I am really excited about this post and I love jewelry and accessories. I attended the Annual FMSPCA Paws in The Snow in November and there was a huge array of silent auction items, of course I was going to go bid on some things. One of the items was a custom handmade bracelet made by Nair & Bjorn. Of Course while designing it with Kimberly Spector(Nair & Bjorn) I opted for a Pink theme with one of the most influential words I can think of “Adopt”. It is so adorable and I love wearing it! HERE IT IS!!!
I did a little email interview with Kimberly Spector of Nair & Bjorn to find out more about her business. I also wanted to point our that this interview has been seen on another animal blog but I am the original creator of the questions with her :)
*Where is your company located:? Southern California
*Do you ship anywhere in the world?: Currently we ship to anywhere in the U.S. and Canada but we can ship to other countries.
*When did your company launch?: 2010
*What kind of items do you make?: Mostly jewelry such as rings, bracelets and earrings. We do make a few hair accessories and some Unisex items.
*I noticed that you donate 5% back to no kill shelters, why did you decided to do this?: I actually just started donating 10% of every purchase. I have always loved animals and wanted to give back. We were walking our dog Nemo one night and came across a stray dog in our neighborhood. He had no identification. We put up flyers and an ad in the paper but couldn’t find out who he belonged to. We kept him and named him Mowgli, he is my inspiration for starting my business.
*Can people pick the shelter they want the 5% to be donate to?: (10%) Right now, I am working with 5 different shelters and any of these can be picked to donate the proceeds. As my business grows, I hope to work with more no-kill shelters throughout the U.S. and maybe other countries as well.
*Do you have any animals of your own?: Yes, I have 2 dogs. Mowgli and another rescue Nick that we adopted from one of the rescues I work with called Barks of Love. He was named Nick by the rescue because we save him in the “nick” of time. We rescued him 1 day before he was going to be euthanized.
*How did you come up with the name Nair & Bjorn?: Nair is my married name and Bjorn is Nordic for Bear which is my niece’s last name. I wanted a designer sounding name so it seemed fitting.
*How can people get in contact with you if they want something?:
Twitter page: https://twitter.com/NairandBjorn
Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/NairandBjorn
I’m also on Pinterest and Instagram too.
*Anything else you want to add or want people to know?: I am a member of The Artisan Group which is a unique collective of artists who make all handmade items. Through them I have been able to have my jewelry included in several high profile events celebrity swag bags including last year’s Emmys, this year’s Oscars and 2013 NY Fashion Week. In addition, I have created special items to gift such celebrities as Sarah Jessica Parker, Renée Zellweger and Tyra Banks as well as designing items to gift the stylists of the hit shows Pretty Little Liars, the Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Parenthood, The Voice and Hart of Dixie. I have also designed necklaces for author A.M. Hargrove’s book “Tragically Flawed” and author Dani Morales’ book “Entrelacen.” Currently, some of my items will be for sale soon in the bookstore at my Alma Mater Cal Poly Pomona University in Southern California.
