Tuesday Spotlight – Edson Animal Rescue Society AKA E.A.R.S

tuesday
*Who is filling out this interview?

Danielle Beverly

*What is your position for your Animal Rescue/Shelter?
Board of Directors/Foster Mom/Volunteer/Website Administrator

*What is the name of your Animal Rescue/Shelter?
Edson Animal Rescue Society (EARS)

*Where are you located?
Edson, AB.

*Do you offer any awareness programs to your community?
Not currently-our mission statement includes education within the community though! As we grow and establish ourselves, this is an area we would like to expand into.

*How long has your Animal Rescue/Shelter been around for?
2 years this coming July.

*What types of animals do you have at your Animal Rescue/Shelter?
Dogs, cats, and a ferret! We have also had guinea pigs and chinchillas in the past.

*If someone wanted to become a volunteer, how could they?
Please go to our website and fill out a volunteer form to start the process.

*What types of items do you take as donations?
We look for most pet care items for all our animals in foster homes-food, litter, toys, blankets, crates, etc. We accept recyclable bottles, and also any new items that can be auctioned off in our annual Online Auction. They do not have to be pet related! We also accept cash donations to put towards our vet bills and other necessities for EARS.

*Do you have any fundraisers coming up that you want my viewers to know about?
Our next adoption event is in Whitecourt on March 15 at Clippendales. We hold these monthly at various local businesses. We will also be putting in a Purdy’s chocolate order closer to Easter!

*What is the adoption process like?
Anyone interested in adopting must first fill out an adoption application. We review it, and if everything looks good we do a Meet & Greet with the animal and the entire family interested in adopting. This includes all other household pets! We then do a homecheck to ensure safety and a healthy environment, followed by an adoption fee.

*What does your shelter/rescue hope to achieve in 2014
We are constantly looking to increase our capacity for animals in need-we are foster home based so the number of animals we take in directly corresponds to the amount of available foster homes we have! We are hoping to increase the number of fosters we have, especially for felines.

*Anything else you want to add?
Right now we have many, many felines looking for their forever homes. Until the end of April, all cats & kittens 6 months and older (fixed and vaccinated) have adoption fees of only $25 ! Please help us find some fur babies their forever homes J
