*What are some interesting facts about your pet(s)?
When Hero was only three months old he became the worlds youngest Champion trick dog. He knew over 60 tricks and officially got his title at 4 months old. Currently at three years old He knows over 300 behaviours. Being trained with Positive training methods has its perks! In 2012 Hero showed off one of his unique tricks on The Late Show With David Letterman. He blew bubbles through a bubble want! After that appearance we got the opportunity to be on The Marilyn Denis Show. Currently we spend every summer performing in the USA with Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience.  Hero and I travel around North America spreading awareness of Pawsitive Training Methods. You can find us at events like The All About Pets Show and book us for private events like birthday parities.

*Perspective on Adopting a Rescue?
At the time I was 17 years old. I had owned a dog before but it was just considered the “family pet” When I looked to rescues for a Border Collie I was denied for a couple reasons. My age, My living situation and I had no experience with Herding Breeds.  I badly wanted to rescue because I feel paying over 1k for a dog is not ideal. I would rather give a dog a second chance then pay that much. After not being able to rescue a dog I looked to Kijiji for a Border Collie. I got extremely lucky after finding a nice lady out in Peterbrough, Ontario.  She owned a farm and had bred her working Border Collies, She drove almost 5 hours to bring Hero to me.  I feel that rescuing is the way to go when it comes to getting a dog. Sadly it has become very difficult to rescue due to a list of  things you must have to qualify.

*What’s your favorite thing to do with your pet(s)?
Hero and I love to do many things together. Hiking in new places, exploring is one if out absolute favourite things to do together.  We visit old age homes and hospitals along with performing at events big and small.

*What is your favorite quote?
dont cry because its over, smile because it happened

*Favorite website to get pet information from?
Animal Wellness Magazine has a ton of great articles!

*Do your pets (s) love to go for car rides?
Hero absolutly loves car rides. To him the car means adventure!

*What’s your favorite animal product?
Hero and I do product reviews… we have encountered some incredible dog products over the years. Some of our favourites are…
Cuddle Clones (Custom plush replicas of your pets)
PetProject (Incredible dog toys)
ChuckIt (More incredible Dog Toys)
Glow Doggie (Amazing durable glowing dog collars for outdoors) 4MyMerles (Dog toys, leashes and collars)

*Why do you think volunteering at an animal rescue/shelter is important?
It gives the animals opportunities to get adopted. When you visit a shelter your giving the animals more exposure to humans and that can make the more adoptable. Many rescue animals have a horrible past, all they need is a little love <3

*Anything extra you would like to add?
I have never talked about this but I would like to add that in 2014 Hero officially became my Service Dog.  He has made my life easier ever since I brought him home on November 1st 2011.

He truly is my Super Hero.

Sara is my niece and i finally had the opportunity to meet Hero last August 2014. I have so proud of everything that Sara has accomplished in her young life and i’m sure there is a lot more for her and hero to look forward too in the coming years. Looking forward to seeing everything else her and Hero will be doing.
