Check out their interview below and check back soon for an interview all about their blog!

*What is your name?
Kelsie McKenzie

*Where are you from?
I was born and raised in PA, but I’m now living life as a military spouse in Montana.

*What is your pet(s) (Age, Breed & Name)?
I have two Great Pyrenees. Mauja is our female and is 2 years old. Atka is our male and is 1-year-old.

*What are some interesting facts about your pet(s)?
Per the breed standard, Mauja and Atka have double dew claws, which many people have never seen! Both dogs have Inuit names – Mauja means “soft, deep snow” and Atka means “guardian spirit”. Atka is also CGC certified and working on his therapy dog certification.

*What is your pet (s) favorite treat?
They both love anything freeze-dried, Windees, and bully sticks.

*What is your pet(s) favorite trick?
Pyrs aren’t really trick dogs, but Mauja loves to ‘speak’ and Atka is pretty proud of his ‘roll over’. I bet if you asked them what their favorite trick is, they would say napping!

*Where is your pet(s) favorite place to go?
Starbucks for a puppaccino!

*Perspective on Adopting a Rescue?
Adopting a rescue is such an important thing. I believe in supporting reputable breeders that strive to improve the breed temperament and eliminate genetic defaults as well. Unfortunately, these breeders are the minority so our shelters are flooded with amazing dogs needing homes. I always tell people looking for a pyr to search rescues first as you can typically find your ‘pyrfect’ companion!

*What’s your favorite thing to do with your pet(s)?
We absolutely love going for hikes as a family. Cuddling on the couch is right up there as well!

*What is your favorite quote?
“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”

*Favorite website to get pet information from?
Oh my, there’s just so many! I typically don’t head to one particular site. Google is my best friend ;)

*Do your pets (s) love to go for car rides?
Yes! We can’t say the word “ride” without two fluff balls knocking us over with excitement!

*What’s your favorite animal product?
The Stuff. Holy fluffy. If you have a dog with long fur that mats, this stuff is amazing.

*Why do you think volunteering at an animal rescue/shelter is important?

Shelters and rescues need all the help they can get to continue to assist dogs in need. Just a few hours a week at your local shelter can make a huge difference to the dogs.

*Anything extra you would like to add?
I would love for you to follow Mauja and Atka via social media!
