spotlight interview

Meet Olivia! She has been making a difference in the Canine Epilepsy community by raising awareness of this horrible disease! This fellow Canadian is also an ambassador to help end BSL (breed specific legislation). Good on you Olivia for standing up for what you believe in! Hello my name is Olivia. I have many nicknames. Some of which I am comfortable sharing, others I like to keep private. Lewinski, pumpkin bottom, Olivia Von Toot, & The Lady Lu are a few I will share with you.

*What is your pet(s) (Age, Breed & Name)?

*What are some interesting facts about your pet(s)?
Since the Summer of 2014   I have been working as a Canine Epilepsy Ambassador & supporter of Global No to the BSL.

I have a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/OhTheLifeofOlivia  and as of this year I have taken on the position of CEO at Knotty Toys for Good Dogs. We create all-natural handmade hemp products for companion animals.

Our blog can be read at:  www.knottytoysforgooddogs.wordpress.com

We also have a Facebook page: www.facebook.com/knottytoysforgooddogs & are in the process of launching our online store www.knottytoysforgooddogs.com

We are hoping to soft launch February 9th 2015 to celebrate International Epilepsy Day. We want everyone to know that $1 of each sale goes to The Wally Foundation, an organization that assist individuals, shelters & rescues with the cost of anti-epileptic drugs.

*What is your pet (s) favorite treat?
Coconut oil is my favorite treat even though it is one of my supplements. I love carrots, cucumbers & the pig’s food although I’m not allowed to eat it. ;)

*What is your pet(s) favorite trick?
I do this thing with my eyes that usually gets me what I want ( I am a dog ;).

Although I am not usually asked to do tricks I will if the reward can be eaten. Sitting, spinning, down, jump up & come are some of the commands I often work on.

*Where is your pet(s) favorite place to go?
We live rurally & are fortunate to have many awesome trails to hike. The fairground is also one of my favorite places to find go hard stinks.

This Summer my humans are working on creating a community dog park; can’t wait.

*Perspective on Adopting a Rescue?
Adopt don’t Shop is and will always be our motto.

*What’s your favorite thing to do with your pet(s)?
My humans are easily amused. A simple snuggle, bum swing, bum lean or nose nudge is all it takes to make them happy.

*What is your favorite quote?
‘Prevent an Event’ is a reference to seizures & epilepsy.

*Favorite website to get pet information from?
We like to keep an open mind & my huMom is always scouring the net for new information.

Due to my epilepsy we research this topic most. http://www.canine-epilepsy.com & http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com are sites we frequently visit & share.

*Do your pets (s) love to go for car rides?
I hate the car! The first year with my huMom we had to drive with a big orange tarp over the front seat because I would always be sick. My huMom tries not to take me in the car if she can help it.

*What’s your favorite animal product?
My Knotty Gnaw Toy & then my Kong because my huMom fills it with organic coconut oil.

*Why do you think volunteering at an animal rescue/shelter is important?
Most shelters are overwhelmed & need all the help they can get. My huMom used to be an Animal Care Supervisor at an Animal Hospital in Toronto many years ago. She also worked at the Toronto Humane Society & volunteered at many shelters & recues over the years. Currently, we are working at opening a Dog Park & starting a CNR (Catch Neuter & Release) project in our small rural community.

*Anything extra you would like to add?
My hope is that my work as a Canine Epilepsy Ambassador will provide support, information & community for others who live with canine epilepsy. (Rolo and I think you are doing a great job promoting Canine Epilepsy!)

*Do I have permission to copy this to my blog? Yes you do.

*Do I have permission to use the photos you provided me with?
Please feel free to use any photos on my page: Oh, the Life of Olivia.
