Today on our blog we are working with the delicious Lucky Dog Biscuits. In this blog post you will get to know Kendall and her company; Lucky Dog Biscuits made right here in Canada (Calgary, AB to be exact).  I cannot stress enough how important it is to know what is being put into your pets digestive system, like dog food or treats. All of her products are handmade, personalize for dogs who have allergies and food sensitivities (her products are corn, wheat & soy free). They are made in small batches using organic whole ingredients, nothing artificial and no preservatives. Let’s get to know Lucky Dogs!

*Who is filling out this interview?
Kendall O’Geil – Owner and Creator of Lucky Dog Biscuits

IMG_5773*How long has this business been around for?
I created this business back in October 2014, so it is still fairly new!

*Why was it started?
I began Lucky Dog biscuits with a specific idea in mind–find better treats for my beloved dog with ingredients I could understand. As I already had a passion for baking, I knew the best way to do this was to make my own treats. Since these have been created with my own dog’s well being in mind, they are made with ingredients you can find at home, made with love, and no weird preservatives I don’t want my dog eating. Mostly, I wanted to create a stronger bond between myself and my dog. This business and exploration is all about creating a loving environment in each person’s home, an experience to share with their dog. It is my hope that anyone who receives my treats has the same connection with their dog when they break open a new bag!

*Do you have any animals?
Jackson! My first dog (I have owned cats all of my adolescent life) and it’s been a challenge and an adventure with him. He is now a three-year-old Bichon Yorkie, with a strange personality to match. He is the professional biscuit taste-tester, and nothing that doesn’t get approved by him first makes it to the online store.

*What do you specialize in?
Lucky Dog specializes in handmade, natural dog biscuits for Canadian dogs. We also create pupcakes for residents of Calgary and the surrounding area for special occasions, or just a special treat!

*What makes your different from other companies?
Lucky Dog creates all biscuits by hand–this means every single treat is hand-rolled-, hand-cut, and packaged individually. They are gluten and allergen friendly, and meat-free for dogs with sensitivities. You can also check out this page for more: http://www.luckydog-biscuits.com/why-us.html

We also do small-batch baking, so each order is tailored to the customer’s needs. If your dog can’t eat eggs, or has a health problem that prevents them from eating most store-bought treats, we are here to work with that owner in creating the perfect treat that suits their dog’s needs.

*What is the company’s mission?
Our mission is to create handmade, all-natural biscuits designed to suit your dog’s individual needs.

*What is the price range?
Prices range from $8-16 for our treats.

*If someone wanted to book an appointment with you how do they get a hold of your company?
If someone wanted to get a hold of Lucky Dog, the best way is to e-mail kendall@luckydogbiscuits.com or we are also always on social media, so reach out there as well (links below)!

*Any special events coming up this year for you?

This October, we are teaming up with a local Calgary area dog walker – See Spot Run – and their annual Halloween costume contest! It’s featured on local TV stations, and we will be supplying Halloween-themed biscuits and pupcakes for sale, with all proceeds going to our charity of choice. IMG_6121*What inspires you?
What inspires me everyday is the satisfaction from seeing happy owners spoiling their dogs. It is such a fun concept that we are able to bring forth, and owners love how they “look like human food”, but for their dogs! It’s a treat to see a passion of mine being appreciated and loved by the dog community in Canada.

*What do you plan to accomplish with your business in 2015?
I plan to continue to grow my business presence locally with efforts to support the community, to expand my reach across Canada, and continue working on my blog to grow in the dog community with posts and discussions beyond biscuits.
