Good Morning Friends! Did you know that September is International Pet Blogging Month? Did you know that I am up in the land of maple syrup, igloos and polar bears? Were talking about Canada! Just kidding we don’t live in igloos or have pet polar bears! but I really do love maple syrup! Through the BlogPaws (www.blogpaws.com) community we have been able to virtually meet so many pet bloggers from all around the world. And hope to meet all of them face to face at the annual BlogPaws Convention June 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona! As part of International Pet Blogging Month we are bringing you part 1 of 2 to let you learn about some of our pet blogging friends from around the globe! Today we are starting off with two bloggers, Bernard from the United States of America. Miami, Florida to be exact and Kevin from the land down under, Melborne, Australia! Let’s learn all about these two men!

First up let’s chat with Bernard from Dog and His boy.

1.When did you start pet blogging and why?
I started blogging about a year and a half ago in the spring of 2014. I started blogging because I wanted to raise awareness about deaf dogs, their unique needs and highlight how much they can accomplish. I had been, and continue to be, very involved with Deaf Dogs Rock, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit that works to help deaf dogs. After writing a few guest blog posts for them, I decided to add my voice and experiences to the conversation. There aren’t very many people talking about deaf dogs so I knew blogging would be a great platform from which I could be an advocate for all deaf dogs and their pet parents.

2. How would you describe your blog to someone?
I try to educate and entertain my readers about deaf dogs in general, but also provide training and safety tips as well as resources for deaf dog pet parents. As a veterinary technician, I also have a special interest in nutrition and holistic health. I try to engage my readers with humor, in hopes of also providing some useful information.

3. Tell us something about you?
I recently started writing for Victoria Stilwell’s Positively.com website. My first article was published in late August and I have a second one due to be published sometime this month. You can view my profile and read my articles here: https://positively.com/community/positively-contributors/bernard-lima-chavez/ .

I also recently formalized a partnership with Dr. Harvey’s where I will be representing them as a Brand Ambassador. I’m thrilled to partner with them and broaden the conversation about achieving and maintaining good health by incorporating Dr. Harvey’s fantastic lines of all-natural food, herbal supplements and grooming products into your dog’s (and cat’s and bird’s) daily diet and grooming needs.

4. Any major events coming up soon for you and your blog?
September is a VERY busy month for me! National Deaf Dog Awareness Week is September 20-26, 2015. I will be flying to Washington, D.C. to talk about deaf dogs on The Pet Show with Dr. Katy, which is scheduled to air on Saturday, Sept. 19 and 11:00 AM. I am also booked on the Vegas Rock Dog Radio Show on Sat, September 19. In addition, I have been asked to contribute some special blog posts about deaf dogs for both Victoria Stilwell and PetSafe, another brand I am proud to have a partnership with.

5. Best advice you could give for someone wanting to start-up a pet blog?
Be clear about your mission and ALWAYS be authentic and true to yourself and your voice! Everything else will fall into place.

6. Do you have any pets? If so, tell me about them?
OMD! I have a small zoo. We have 2 deaf Dogo Argentino mixes named Edison and Foster, two hearing pit bull mixes named Darwin and Galileo and 6 cats!

7. Where are you from?
I grew up in a speck of a town in Michigan, about an hour and half northeast of Detroit. I ran to New York City, pretty much sight unseen, the summer after I graduated from high school. I lived in New York for the next 11 years and then moved here to Miami in 2001.

Now let’s chat with Kevin from That Dog Dancing Guy.

1. When did you start pet blogging and why?
I started blogging back when I got my first dog Luna in 2011. I started blogging as a way to share photos and stories with family and friends, and then I just kinda kept going from there. I launched That Dog Dancing Guy in 2013 as a way to shift slightly to a more rounded blog about living with pets.

2. How would you describe your blog to someone?
It’s a lifestyle blog about spending lots of time with your pets, improving your bond with them through positive training. We talk about everything from common problems at home, training advice and the latest toys, treats and other products.

3. Tell us something about you?
Most of my life revolves around animals. I work at an animal shelter during the week, I perform in demos and expos with my own dogs every now and then and I am an obedience instructor on weekends!
