Spice up your dogs dish with these fall inspired foods

BANNER
The fall season doesn’t last very long where we live in Canada but we always take full advantage of it. It allows us to go on longer walks and take picturesque photos outside among the beautiful colored leaves. We got to thinking as to what flavors are very fall inspired. As we searched the isles at the local supermarket we found a lot of great answers!

Pumpkin
Naturally low in fat and high in fiber, pumpkin is an excellent resource in weight management.
The soluble and insoluble fiber found in pumpkin is especially good for pooches prone to digestive issues like diarrhea or constipation.Pumpkin seeds feature a unique source of Vitamin A, potassium, iron, and beta-carotene, which are believed to support urinary health. It is packed with beta-carotene and antioxidants that can promote a healthy immune system in dogs of all ages. (Thank-You Ashlee at Matrix Partners® for the help with this one)

Apple
Apples are a great source of vitamin A, vitamin C as well as fiber. The skin on apples is full of phytonutrients which have health promoting properties including antioxidants & anti-inflammatory. Be cautious as you shouldn’t allow your pet to eat the apple core.

Turkey
Rolo is drooling by just having me say that word (he loves his meat!) Turkey has a rich source of Selenium which has antioxidant properties.

Sweet Potato
They contain amino acids which are essential in your dog’s diet to maintain strong & healthy muscles. They are also great to aid in digestive health. They are high in fiber and make a great snack. I myself love sweet potato fries!

Cranberry(Thanks for the help Lara at www.myrubicondays.blogspot.com)
They are very rich in vitamins including A, B2, C, B1 and many nutrient, minerals and antioxidants. They are also a great supplement for urinary tract health. As you know that as a human when you have a “bladder infection” etc. I know I drink cranberry juice to clear it up(not the cranberry cocktail version either)

With talking about all these wonderful flavors, I want to share with you a few fall inspired dog treats;
Look Who’s Happy® – Tempt’n Tenders Pumpkin & Chicken
Fruitables® – Skinny Minis Apple Bacon
Dr Harvey’s® – Sweet Potate’r Chews
