Over the past week I have been reading through the 124 page book WoofiLeaks – Your dog’s secrets revealed. By all means you can get through this book in less than half an hour, but I decided to take a slower approach and read a little bit at a time. Later on in this post we also have an exclusive interview with the author himself, John Emmerling.
Max, John’s Poodle helps us decode dogs through catchy poems within it’s 9 chapters; Healthy Living Secrets, Possibly Disgusting Secrets & Puppy Secrets, just to name a few. Each page is filled with colorful photos which were drawn by the author John.
One thing I love about the book is along with the adorable poems is of course its visual appeal. Each of the 9 chapters is given a color. While the left hand side of the page is where you will find the secret they are revealing like “why do dogs sniff fire hydrants?” and the right hand side has the illustration and the poem answering the secret. That color that was given to each chapter is mashed amongst the pages and it makes the page I am on POP! For instance the word hydrants was highlighted orange, and the illustration of the other page had an orange fire hydrant.
Overall, I had a great read with this book and it will make an excellent addition to my collection of pet books. I read a few of the pages to my 8-year-old stepson, he got a chuckle out of it.

Now onto the awaited Exclusive Interview with John.
*What is your involvement with this book?
Author and illustrator although, truth be told, it was mostly dictated to me by my standard poodle, Max
*How was the book started and what was your inspiration?
Started about three years ago when I began to REALLY watch Max, and his great grand-niece Molly. I would see a particular behavior and wonder: “what’s that all about?” Researched on the web, read scholarly dog books, and used my own hunches to compile list of Max’s secrets. Great fun. And really felt I was “communicating” with Max.
*When was it released?
*What is the cost of the book?
Paperback is $16.99 on Amazon
*Who was it published by?
Water Bowl Publishing
*Who was it written & illustrated by?
*Where can someone get a copy of this book?
Only online at Amazon for now. Will put up the eBook by early January.
*What is the book about?
An amusing take on why dogs do the oddball things they do. (Of course, Max doesn’t think there’s anything funny about it. He’s dead serious about his mission to enlighten humanity.)
*How many pages is the book?
*What age group is the book targeted to?
Mostly teen to adult dog lovers, although little kids love having the rhymes read to them.
